The Bruny Island Long Weekend
About The Bruny Island Long Weekend
Based from a private lodge, on a secluded 100-acre property on the edge of the South Bruny National Park, The Bruny Island Long Weekend is the ultimate way to explore Bruny Island. The tour is an opportunity for total immersion into the island’s natural beauty in true Tasmanian style. The experience combines coastal walks with intimate visits to a number of local producers. A maximum of 8 guests will discover how to harvest local oysters, spot nocturnal wildlife such as the rare quolls and pademelons, found only in Tasmania, visit a local cheese producer and step aboard local fisherman Rob Pennicott’s award-winning wildlife and adventure eco-cruise to spot dolphins, whales and albatross, and huge fur seal colonies. Accommodation is in a luxurious forest camp on both nights and includes dinner prepared by the guides as guests sip on Tasmanian wine around a roaring camp-fire. Although the lodge has been built completely ‘off the grid’, we are not without our creature comforts. Each tent contains a king-size bed with quality linen and the highlight, for many guests, is our hot outdoor shower Offering the only alternative to the Bruny Island vehicular ferry, guests access the island by private high-speed catamaran from the Hobart waterfront and return by seaplane. The idea of a long weekend suggests a relaxed and indulgent approach to travel, almost a celebration. A Long Weekend on Bruny Island is total immersion into the best of Tasmania’s food, wildlife and scenery. Escape to Bruny Island and experience its incredible natural beauty and renowned local produce for the perfect Tasmanian short break.
