White Water Rafting
Tasmania is home to some amazing rafting experiences with plenty or white water available between the West Coast and Hobart including the King River, Derwent River and the epic Franklin River.
If you are looking for the best rafting holiday in Australia then you can't look past Tasmania.
The Franklin River
The mighty Franklin River is one of Australia's most epic adventures taking between eight and ten days to complete and traveling through the stunning Gordon Franklin Wild Rivers National Park and the World Heritage Area. A tour on the Franklin generally takes between 8 and 10 days depending on conditions and is one of the most stunning places in Tasmania to visit. The rafting itself can be difficult and dangerous with a number of class 5 rapids and sections that need to be portered so it's best to do this trip with experienced guides who know the river. Rafting tours run between October and April.
The King river on Tasmania's West Coast runs between Lake Burbury and Macquarie Harbour through stunning rainforests and a rich mining history. White Water Rafting Tours run during the summer months depending on water levels and conditions.
The Derwent River north of New Norfolk offers a pleasant day on the water with light rapids and plenty of beautiful scenery along the way. This trip makes a great introduction to rafting and is also a great family activity during the warmer summer months as well.
